An excellent 'Tour de Hedinghams' was led by Gifford on Saturday starting from Sible Hedingham Library. Eight people participated including one new cyclist from the village. The 'tour' was timetabled to leave the library at 10am however, when just about to depart, a cry came from across the road and lo and behold there was a white boardman bike! For this month's 40 miler Mick took us to the Hanging Gardens Nursey Tea Room. 17 riders turned out (a couple new to this distance) and with Mick at the front and Compo at the back we set off. Out via Litney Green, Pleshey, High Easter, Good Easter and through to Willingale. From there we went through Cocksmill and Newey Green and on to Writtle with the tea room just off the A414. This week was a ride with two halves. On offer was a longer ride with a figure of eight around the Discovery Centre and two shorter rides for the ladies. The reason for the latter was that we also ran two roadside maintenance sessions for the ladies so they got a bit of cycling in as well as getting their hands dirty. 28 riders set off to Great Notley and here we split in to 2 groups. Ably led my Jim D we rode through Littley Green, Howe Street, Great Waltham and finally arrived at Little Channels cafe at Little Waltham. Good food and coffee and well placed out of the wind. The other group had already arrived but again only just so timings and distances seem to be working out. We set off back as one group via Little Waltham, Howe Street, Great Leighs, Rayne and then home along the Flitch.
