Everything but the bike...

On Friday December 8th, members of Braintree Easy Riders - plus some partners - attended a Christmas Dinner at Weavers Restaurant in Bocking Village Club. Some drove, some got taxis and one or two braved the cold and walked but no one cycled. A massive thank you must be said to Peter Short and his glamorous assistant Sue for arranging and co-ordinating the whole evening. Everything went like clockwork, resulting in many empty plates and glasses. Peter asked for a vote as to whether or not we should rebook for 2018; the consensus was a resounding yes which says everything about how much everybody enjoyed themselves. Additional entertainment was provided by way of two quiz sheets: one to name

Brrrrr...... at least now no snow!

Six intrepid guys turned up at 9.30 am for a forty miler. After a scattering of snow over night all of us, but hardy Compo, were wrapped up. Taking care on now wet roads we set off down through Bocking. On passing Peter's house we were greeted by a wave and feeble excuse that he was at a final ukulele rehearsal in the afternoon. Venturing through the lanes and a few hills we cycled through to Toppersfield and Great Yeldham. This part of Essex has quaint but oddly named villages. It was not long before we crossed into Suffolk. Back out of Clare we took a well earned rest at the Golf Club. Over bacon sandwiches we were able to look out on river Stour and put the world to rights! Once refresh
