Frosty joins the Easy Riders

Plenty of Easy Riders congregated on Drury Lane for the last Wednesday ride before Christmas. All groups were heading to The Stores at Great Waltham – Long ride led by Tim, Medium led by Jim and Short group led by Mick. The short group pedalled out straight down London Road, along Route 16 through Great Notley and then straight down the old 131 through Great Leighs. We took the footpath under the new A131 bypass and took a short section on the A131. I can’t say I like this part of the route, as it meant we had to cross the busy road twice in order to ride a 200 yard section. Christmas 'Nosh'

Nearly 50 Easy Riders attended the annual Christmas meal at the Braintree & Bocking United Services Club. We missed a few people who were unable to attend – like Julia who had a head cold, and Margot. Margot had to fly to Australia, where her Mum had taken a turn for the worse. Thankfully Margot arrived to see her Mum before she passed, and Easy Riders send her their love and condolences. This year Jim and I were on a table with Aydin and his wife, and Fiona. Aydin and his wife had just returned that day from a holiday in Los Angeles to see their son, so after an 11 hour flight with a 10 hour time difference, were feeling a little jet-lagged. It was another large group of Easy Riders who assembled on Drury Lane, for a bright, cold, sunny ride on wet roads. The sun bouncing of the wet roads was absolutely dazzlingly bright. We had no ride leader for the medium group and Tim, who was aware of the route, stepped into the breach. Mick led the short group, tailed by Bill and Adrian led the long group. The short group pedalled out along Manor Road, giving way at Railway Street. As we had an altercation with a bus driver here last week, I carefully inspected the road markings - which were virtually invisible.
