Our first 40 miler of 2017 as requested by a number of the group and it was great to see 16 keen cyclists turn up. The weather was kind, especially given storm Doris the day before, with some sun, clouds and a gentle breeze.
We set off with Mick confirming that there would be two stops. One for coffee and one for lunch. Route out of Braintree was through the Notleys, first Black and then White, then on to Little Braxted for coffee at Braxted Bakery - well worth a visit if you are out that way.
We then headed towards Great Braxted and on to Little Totham. The roads were quite and with the wind with us we made good time to Heybridge where we broke for lunch. The coffee shop at Osea is in a great spot looking out over the estuary and again would recommend.
Time for home via Great Totham, Kelvedon and then Cressing. In to a headwind most of the way, but surprising how the time flies when chatting.
A great ride, just a shade under 40 miles...thanks Mick for organising and leading.
